Silent Film: Composer/Pianist
As a composer for silent films, Joel has been commissioned by the San Francisco Film Preservation Society (at the Former Fine Arts Cinema, Berkeley) for Peter Pan and Rin Tin Tin, and has composed and performed for over 40 silent films for the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley California, including Wind, La Maison du Mystère, Backstairs, Nana, The General Line, Dr. Mabuse, The Fall of the House of Usher, and Battleship Potemkin; Peter Pan and The Shiek (Castro Theater, San Francisco), The Scarlet Letter for the St. Mary's Candlelight Concerts in San Francisco.
